About Cartier
Cartier was founded as a watch and jewelry company in 1847 by Louis-François Cartier, a jeweler who fancied pocket watches. He always wanted to create his own line of timepieces. Cartier went on to become the company that made wrist watches popular as a more convenient version of the pocket watch. Their first wrist watch, Santos, was released for sale in 1911, after which the brand went on to create a number of iconic wrist watches, clocks and jewelry made for royalty from across the world. Many of their jewelry and watches use the panther symbol. Today the brand makes other products as well, like belts, eyewear, fragrances, cufflinks and such other products for both men and women.
